Compo Homework (Fire in a lift) (LAST WEEK))
Hey, I don’t think we should be doing this!” I stammered.” Oh are you scared? Jerry mocked at me. I sighed and I leaned to the wall outside the lift. Jerry took out the tin of thinner that he just bought and he wanted to see if his teacher, Mr. Tan, was right in saying that that kind of substance was highly flammable. Jerry, Darren and me had met up to see the fire “show”. However, I was starting to have second thoughts about this.
The sudden spark of a matchstick jolted me out from my thoughts. Jerry had just light up the matchstick. Will open the bottle of thinner and poured it all over the little that was lying around the lift by some inconsiderate people.” Stand back!” Jerry instructed and we moved to the back of the lift. He signaled at us what was going to happen next but suddenly, a gust of wind swept by, causing the flame to shrivel up, vanishing from sight. “Never mind, I have an extra matchstick.” He said and took the spare matchstick and light it up. Jerry threw the matchstick onto the litters. I imagined what happened and pushed the boys out. The gentle dancing flame touched litters. Immediately the small flame exploded into what seemed like a fiery monster. Thick smoke filled the air, shrouding the surrounding in total darkness. Flames licked at me, sending me to horror. I screamed for horror and they went to find the phone booth to call the fire fighters but they could not find it. They went around the flat to search for people with hand phone. Finally, they found a friendly guy with a hand phone. They call the fire fighters and after he called them, the stranger asked Jerry and Will what happened. Will told the stranger that there was a fire in the lift. Soon, the siren filled the air. I heard the siren and said, “I..a..m..save..” before I fainted
Soon I woke up. I figured out that I was in a white room, am I in heaven? “Benny! Benny!” I heard a voice. I opened my eyes wider and saw my family, Jerry and Will crying beside me. “We’re sorry, Benny.” They wailed. The fire fighters told me that it was dangerous to do that but he praised me for saving my friends life and they decided to tell to the school what happen, wishing that this would not happen again and telling the school what I done. Soon as Jerry and Will when home, they got scolded for playing fire and they swear not to play fire again. The next day, my form teacher said that I was very brave and praised me.
