After a particular incident, I learnt not to believe in strangers anymore. Streetlights glow invitingly in the
semi darkness. I was going on my way home after tuition. A few friends were still playing at a playground
near my tuition class. Their laughter filled the air. Sighing contentedly, I continued walking home. I had a
good day. I scored 95 marks for my mathematics test and I could not wait to tell my parents about this.

Suddenly, a worried-looking lady rushed to me, “Your father met with an accident today while going to
work!” She rushed out in a breathless voice. I stunned for a moment. She told me again that my father’s
friends and my rest of my family were already in the hospital. “They doesn’t want to leave your parent’s
side so they told me to come and bring you there.” She said as she brings me to a car. Fear surged through
me. Thoughts of my father, injured and covered with cuts and bruises, filled my mind. The car went over the
hospital and continued heading up a small deserted side road. “Where are..” I did not finish my words and she knocked me out. When I woke up, I found myself in a place where the ceilings were covered with cobwebs. Where am I? Why was I here? I wondered and I turned to the lady and a man behind her. They pushed me into a gloomy old room. In a corner, a chair and a layer of dust covered every inch of the room. “Don’t move and stay here!” the man roared and tied a rope on my hand. As they went out I went closer to the door and heard them talking to my parents. “I got your son! Bring me one hundred thousand dollars or your son will die!” The man shouted and fear gripped me. I sat alone in the room and thinking of getting out. I looked desperately and I saw a sharp jagged broken glass bottle and used it to break the rope and the next look, I saw a window, half-open. I dragged the chair to the window and I stood on the chair. I slowly open the window. Cree..

The kidnappers heard the sound and came in. “Stop! Don’t you dare to jump down! They shouted. I could felt beads of perspiration trickling down my face as I looked down, It was too tall for me to jump but I risked and jumped down to the dark gloomy alley. Bamm! They ran out and saw me dragging one of my legs, running. They were in hot pursuit. As they ran for a few minutes, they heard sirens filling the air. “The police! Run! Run!” the kidnappers said to each other and ran back. But the police surrounded the alley. The police jumped and armlocked the kidnappers and handcuffed them. I was brought home and soon discovered that the cell phone that my father bought contained a tracking device that can locate the people calling them. A few days later, I watched the news and saw the kidnappers that was arrested, was sent to jail for 5 years and 7 strokes of caning.
